Rite Aid Launches New Program to Make Refilling Prescriptions Easier; Patients Who Sign up for Courtesy Refill Program Have Chance to Win a 2008 Chevy Malibu Hybrid and $3,000 in Gas Gift Cards

CAMP HILL, Pa.-(Business Wire)-September 4, 2008 - To encourage patients to sign up for its new Automated Courtesy Refill program that makes it easier to refill their prescriptions, Rite Aid is giving those who enroll a chance to win a 2008 Chevy Malibu Hybrid car and $3,000 in gas gift cards.

Rite Aid today announced its Automated Courtesy Refills Sweepstakes running Sept. 1 through Dec. 31, 2008. The free courtesy refill program automatically fills a prescription before it runs out. Rite Aid will call customers when prescriptions are ready for pick-up. The drugstore also will contact a customer’s physician for prescription renewals. Every prescription filled with Rite Aid’s Automated Courtesy Refills gives the customer another entry in the sweepstakes drawing.

There will be one prize winner of the Chevy Malibu Hybrid valued at more than $26,000 and $3,000 in gas cards. The winner will be drawn at the close of the contest.

“We do everything we can to help our customers take care of themselves, and that includes ensuring they take their prescriptions as directed and have them filled through one pharmacy so all prescriptions may be checked for interactions,†said Mark de Bruin, Rite Aid Executive Vice President. “This program is about safety as well as convenience, and for one lucky winner this sweepstakes sure will make traveling easier.â€

Medicaid, Medicare Part B, PACE, PAAD, EPIC and any government funded program prescriptions are not eligible for the Rite Aid Courtesy Refills Sweepstakes. In New Jersey, the offer is valid only for citizens 60 years or older. The offer is not valid in New York State. Certain prescriptions may not be eligible and other limitations may apply. California law requires that residents must authorize Rite Aid to contact them by mail or phone at their home if they should win. Information on the sweepstakes will be available in the Rite Aid weekly circulars or by asking Rite Aid pharmacists. Details also are available at www.riteaid.com/sweepstakes.
