New Regency Further Expands and Enhances Motion Picture Production Division

LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-September 3, 2008 - New Regency, the industry’s largest independent studio, continues to expand and enhance its motion picture division with Amy Israel joining the company as executive vice president of production, it was announced today by Regency Chairmen Robert Harper and Hutch Parker.

One of the industry’s most highly respected production executives, Israel served as head of the production and acquisitions departments of Paramount Vantage since its inception in January 2006. During her tenure at Paramount Vantage she oversaw a slate of films that included Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood; the Coen Brother’s No Country For Old Men; Sean Penn’s Into The Wild; Ed Zwick’s upcoming Defiance, starring Daniel Craig; The Duchess starring Keira Knightley; and The Goods, a comedy from producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. At Vantage, she was instrumental in the acquisition of the Academy Award-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. Previously, Israel served as production head at The Orphanage, a film, TV, animation and VFX company and is an eight-year veteran of Miramax Films, where she was responsible for the acquisition and co-production of such seminal films as The Others, Il Postino, Kids, Swingers, Flirting with Disaster, Sling Blade, Clerks, and Trainspotting.

In addition, Michelle Kroes joins Regency as director of feature and literary development, with the focus of her efforts on mining the literary community for film projects as well as acting as the contact for east coast talent.

She previously served since 2006 at Maria B. Campbell & Associates as a highly regarded senior book scout for Warner Brothers as well as a dozen international publishers (fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels). Prior to her role as a senior literary scout, Kroes spent four years representing authors as an agent in the sale of dramatic rights to film and television, packaging material with actors, writers, and directors.

Bob Harper and Hutch Parker said of the new appointments: “The additions of Amy and Michelle represent major steps toward realizing our strategic goal of New Regency being a first stop for visionary filmmakers and quality commercial material. Amy is a triple threat-she has extensive production experience, great filmmaker relationships and an eye for distinctive, high quality material. Books have long served as the basis for some of the most endearing and noteworthy films of all time. Michelle’s instincts and experience makes her the ideal executive to fulfill this crucial role for the 'new' New Regency.â€
