Travelers Reminds Residents Risks Remain After the Storm Passes

HARTFORD, Conn.-(Business Wire)-September 3, 2008 - Although the worst winds of Hurricane Gustav have passed, significant danger still exists after the hurricane due to downed power lines, unstable trees and flooding. A recent Mason-Dixon Poll found that most residents would not wait for authorities to declare the area safe before heading home. The research found that

52% of those polled would not wait for word from officials before heading home and
29% said they would return to a hurricane-ravaged area as soon as the storm passed, putting themselves and their loved ones at risk.
