The Beacon Joins Forces with Armed Forces Network to Encourage Troops, Yet Again!

LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-August 29, 2008 - THE BEACON, an Adult Contemporary music based public affairs program, has re-joined forces with The Armed Forces (Radio) Network (AFN). The last time THE BEACON was on AFN was 2006. The AFN serves American service men and women, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, and their families stationed in over 177 countries around the world and aboard US Navy Ships at Sea. THE BEACON is being broadcast to a potential audience of over 800,000.

The programming airs a half hour each Sunday and is hosted by radio broadcast veteran Austin Harris. Harris, whose familiar calming voice has aired in hundreds of markets and been a mainstay of media advertising, programming and public service announcements, notes, "THE BEACON'S mission is to improve the character of our world by opening the hearts of listeners with radio that is encouraging, entertaining, and inspiring." Harris notes THE BEACON features a new message each week and includes such topics as Perseverance, Heroes, Encouragement, Role-Models, Responsibility, Honesty and other positive values and subject matter.

Chaplain Kite, who also serves as Director of Religious Programming for the AFN, agrees and added, "We are looking forward to enjoying your great products and sharing them with our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, and Coastguardsmen worldwide."

Mike McVay, President of McVay Media, one of the foremost broadcast consultancies in the industry, and an adviser to THE BEACON, points out, "The men & women of our armed forces are willing to protect our freedoms with their very lives. We are gratified and very excited that THE BEACON can reciprocate by taking a few of those freedoms of speech and religion to give back to our troops and their families by providing positive and uplifting programming and giving them spiritual fuel and entertainment to recharge their batteries."

THE BEACON can currently be found on the World Wide Web at www.beaconradio.org or by calling 1-800-788-8405 (International callers may reach THE BEACON at 605-275-8405).
