Telesur Chooses ISCO International's Solution to Eliminate Wireless Interference in Suriname
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill.-(Business Wire)-August 15, 2008 - ISCO International, Inc. (AMEX:ISO), a leading provider of wireless spectrum conditioning solutions for wireless carriers, today announced that it has signed an agreement with the telecommunications service provider Telesur as it expands its network in Suriname. As part of the agreement, ISCO will provide "Spectrum Conditioning," increasing call capacity and quality - and creating new revenue opportunities for the cellular carrier in the South American country just north of Brazil.
The ISCO dANF product from the Adaptive Interference Mitigation and Management (AIM) product line will be installed in a host of cell sites in Suriname in the 450MHz band as they build a fixed wireless local loop (WLL) network throughout the country. Telesur is the government-owned, full-service telecommunications provider for Suriname, currently providing telephone, internet and GSM wireless services to its citizens.
"Telesur needed to ensure high quality telephone service with the network. When interference problems were encountered, Telesur engaged our senior technology consultants to explore ways to improve call quality, cell site coverage and data transfer rates," said Gordon Reichard Jr., president and CEO of ISCO International. "After joint analysis and testing, we are pleased that the implementation of ISCO's dANF Adaptive Interference Mitigation products resulted in substantial improvement in Telesur's network."
Reichard pointed to unprecedented global cellular growth and system complexity in recent years - and the challenging environment this creates for cellular operators who are now confronted with more noise and unpredictable interference. The 450MHz band is becoming the technology of choice for international emerging markets and rural geographies, due partially to the expanded coverage provided by the low frequency. With that low frequency, however, comes more potential interference, said Reichard. As a result, ISCO has several active product evaluations with operators within the 450MHz band worldwide.
