U.S. Army Deploys Actua Positioning System to Support ''Operation Iraqi Freedom''
OWATONNA, Minn.-(Business Wire)-August 1, 2008 - The U.S. Army recently deployed several Portable Sensor Platforms (PSPs) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Designed by STS International to meet the Army's critical need for portable surveillance and assessment technology, an essential component of the PSP is Actua Systems Inc.'s patented positioning system that gives the unit an unprecedented 23-to-1 extension capability to elevate its payload.
In addition to its military application, Actua System's innovative PositionIt(TM) technology is being used in the live entertainment industry including the recent 2008 BET Awards, the current Police Reunion concert tour, Larry King Live and many other productions worldwide. The company also plans to introduce its positioning system technology to the emergency response industry to meet the lighting needs of disaster, emergency, recovery and law enforcement responders.
