CHEP Featured on the "Sustainable Planet" Television Series

ORLANDO, Fla.-(Business Wire)-July 17, 2008 - CHEP, the world leader in equipment pooling, is featured in an episode of Sustainable Planet's Eye on the Environment series which begins airing this month and will be seen on The Discovery Channel Transponder, The Travel Channel Transponder and on various regional news networks over the coming weeks and months. The broadcast schedule for the segment, called Supply Chain Logistics Solutions Reducing Environmental Waste, is available at www.chep.com, and will be updated with more airtimes and dates, so please check the schedule periodically.

"We are particularly intrigued with the CHEP business model," explained the show's Production Manager, Lisa Vrancken. "With Sustainability in the headlines so much recently, we feel that CHEP is a pioneer in sustainability business practices."

CHEP has long focused on the environment, offering retailers and manufacturers an efficient alternative to shipping damaged pallets to landfills. The company issues, collects, inspects and conditions more than 300 million pallets and containers from a world-wide network of service centers, handling more than 3 million equipment movements each day in the consumer goods, produce, meat, home improvement, beverage, raw materials, petro-chemical and automotive industries.

Based on third-party Life Cycle Inventory Analysis results, the environmental savings generated by the CHEP USA pallet pool in 2007 amounted to approximately 2.5 billion lbs. of solid waste, 8.0 trillion BTU's of energy and 1.4 billion lbs. of greenhouse gas emissions. This is equivalent to the power used in every household in Tampa and Orlando, Florida combined for an entire year, over 111,500 dump trucks of solid waste eliminated from landfills and waste streams and over 118,500 cars taken off the road in terms of CO2 emissions.

"CHEP is pleased to be selected as an example of environmental sustainability for this broadcast. With the support of our customers, we are able to make a positive contribution in the area of responsible resource use and environmental consciousness," said Michael Lamb, President, CHEP USA.
