Advoco Extends Support for Project Management and Announces New Scholarship Program with San Francisco State University

SAN FRANCISCO-(Business Wire)-July 1, 2008 - Advoco, a leading management and consulting services company, announced today the first recipient of the Advoco Scholarship, a program that awards full tuition coverage for project management certification at San Francisco State University College of Extended Learning. This scholarship program further extends Advoco's long-standing relationship with SF State Extended Learning and strengthens its commitment to the advancement of project management.

Birgit Rodstein, the first recipient of the Advoco Scholarship, is a German native and has more than fifteen years of experience in the supply and logistics industry. Her methodical approach, along with her professionalism and enthusiasm, made her stand out as an Advoco Scholarship applicant. Founded in 2008, the Advoco Scholarship is awarded each semester to students enrolled in the SFSU College of Extended Learning Project Management Program.

In addition to Advoco's scholarship commitment with SF State Extended Learning, two members of its staff have further extended their reach with students and the university by serving as Adjunct Faculty. Steve Brindle teaches "Project Management in Regulated Industries," and Dan Shimabuku leads the class "Project Procurement and Virtual Management: Managing International Teams." Brindle is the Advoco COO, and Shimabuku is a senior consultant.

Advoco has been an active advocate for project management training and education for many years. Ken Jillson, Advoco CEO, commented, "Advoco is committed to the SFSU students - financially and through access to our staff resources - so that together we can advance the study and development of project management. This relationship benefits the students, the community, and the industry. It is also part of our strategy to develop a hiring pool of well-trained project management candidates for Advoco and the other employers in the Bay area."
