The Orchard Announces Promotions and Hires to Support Its Rapid Growth

NEW YORK-(Business Wire)-June 18, 2008 - The Orchard (NASDAQ: ORCD), a global leader in digital music and entertainment, today announced the promotions of three senior executives, as well as two new strategic hires.

Executive Promotions

Brad Navin has been named Executive Vice President & General Manager. Mr. Navin, who joined the Orchard in 2004, previously served as Orchard's Vice President of Global Licensing and Operations. In his new role, Mr. Navin oversees The Orchard's music & video licensing, artist & label management, marketing & promotions, corporate communications, the European offices, and Orchard's Film, TV & advertising synchronization group.

Dan Pifer has been named Executive Vice President Operations & Technology, having previously served as Vice President of the department. Mr. Pifer oversees all operations and technology for The Orchard, including content management, encoding and delivery; technology product design, development and management; IT infrastructure and support; mechanical licensing administration and accounting systems; and creative services. Mr. Pifer became involved with The Orchard when he joined Dimensional Associates (Orchard's controlling stockholder) in 2003, and has previously worked with other Dimensional-owned companies, including leading independent digital retailer eMusic.

Steve Haase has been named Senior Vice President of Business Development. Previously Vice President of Business Development, Mr. Haase has been an executive at The Orchard since its inception in 1997, and was the first hire of Orchard co-founders Richard Gottehrer and Scott Cohen. Mr. Haase is responsible for brokering all digital music and video service sales relationships throughout the world, and with this change, Mr. Haase now also oversees The Orchard's Brand Entertainment division as well as other non-traditional business areas such as Web 2.0 platforms and online gaming.

Strategic Hires

Alexis H. Shapiro joins The Orchard as Senior Counsel. Responsible for initiating and maintaining programs and procedures for management of day-to-day corporate activities, Ms. Shapiro oversees the company's SEC filings, management of stock option and award programs and SOX compliance. Ms. Shapiro was previously with the firm Pryor Cashman LLP, where she focused on general corporate, securities, mergers & acquisitions and private equity law, and has over a decade of corporate legal expertise. She is a member of the New York State Bar.

Deana Graffeo joins the company as Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications. In this newly created position, Ms. Graffeo spearheads The Orchard's global corporate communications, marketing communications and media relations initiatives. An eight-year veteran of music and technology public relations, Ms. Graffeo previously worked for renowned companies and brands such as AOL Music, Knitting Factory Entertainment and Shore Fire Media, as well as former VUNet USA properties MP3.com, eMusic, GetMusic and RollingStone.com.
