Is speculation driving commodity prices? ONN.tv Interviews CME Group Executive Chairman Terry Duffy to get the answers

CHICAGO-(Business Wire)-June 18, 2008 - StreetSmarts, a weekly interview program hosted by www.onn.tv, interviewed Terry Duffy, Executive Chairman of CME Group, in a special segment found only on The Options News Network.

Terry Duffy has served as Executive Chairman of the board of CME Group since July 2007. Previously he served as Chairman of the Board of CME and CME Holdings since April 2002, and had served as the Executive Chairman since October of 2006. A member of the exchange and head of his own trading firm since 1981, his first official position as an exchange leader came as a Board member in 1995. In that role he was instrumental in defining the product and regulatory initiatives and technological innovations that would secure the exchange's dominance in 21st century financial markets.

In The ONN/StreetSmarts interview, Duffy talks about the successful marriage of Chicago's two historic marketplaces—CME and CBOT—to create the world's largest, most diverse derivatives exchange. As the head of a global leader in financial innovation, Chairman Duffy comments on how pit trading survives and thrives in the electronic era and what synergies are created for customers with a choice of floor and screen trading.

The 10-minute interview also addresses the recently explosive controversy concerning speculators and commodity prices for both grains and oil markets. Duffy, who recently spoke before Congress on the food and energy price debates, answers such questions as "Do supply and demand still rule these markets?" and "Do commodity futures still serve the vital economic roles of price discovery and risk transfer for which they were invented?" Find out what the leader of the world's most diverse financial exchange has to say about regulation and the proper functioning of futures markets.
