LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-May 6, 2008 - AECOM Technology Corporation, (NYSE: ACM), a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, received St. Joseph Center's Community Service Award during the center's 23rd annual Dinner Dance event at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Saturday, May 3.
AECOM received the Community Service Award for its services during the planning, design and construction of St. Joseph Center's new main facility in Venice, Calif.
"We are grateful for the care shown by AECOM's project team as well as its enthusiastic embrace of our mission," said Va Lecia Adams, the center's new executive director. "With AECOM's guidance and expertise, we now have a building that positions us to better serve our clients."
"We are honored to receive this recognition from St. Joseph Center," said Richard Newman, AECOM chairman. "It's fulfilling for us to know that our professional expertise is helping to make a difference in the community as we strive to make the world a better place in which to live and work."
Since 2001, AECOM professionals have been crucial in working with the four government entities that have had jurisdiction over St. Joseph Center's new building project - the City of Los Angeles, the City of Santa Monica, the California Department of Education and the California Coastal Commission.
Other honorees at the event, which raised $400,000 to help disadvantaged families and individuals, included Rhonda Meister, former St. Joseph Center executive director who received the Hope Through Empowerment award, and program client Cindy Birchall, who received the center's Special Recognition Award. Television star and longtime St. Joseph Center supporter Wendie Malick hosted the event.
The center's Dinner Dance is a critical source of support for its 10 programs, which provide services such as job training, affordable childcare, supplemental groceries and hot meals for 6,000 working poor and homeless families and individuals to achieve greater health, stability and self-sufficiency.
