Retired Aerospace Engineer is Now Driving 7,000 Miles to Visit All 20 Erickson Campuses Nationwide

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo.-(Business Wire)-March 27, 2008 - Norm Fox, a resident of Wind Crest, a campus in Denver, CO, developed and managed by Erickson Retirement Communities, has begun a month-long driving excursion to visit each of the company's 20 campuses throughout the United States. What initially began as a trip to visit family and friends, has mushroomed into a visit to all Erickson sites. He expects to drive 7,000 miles in his 2003 Ford Explorer.

The Erickson network currently comprises campuses in Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia, which together are home to more than 21,000 people and employ more than 12,000. The company is currently developing new communities in Atlanta, Charlotte, Denver, and other attractive markets. It is also looking at potential sites across the U.S.

"I decided to take a road trip to visit family and friends in Texas, Florida, up state New York, Washington and West Virginia," said Fox, a retired aerospace engineer for Martin Marietta in Colorado. "When I realized the trip would take me to neighboring Erickson campuses, I decided to make a stop at each one."

Fox has already visited the following Erickson campuses: Highlands Springs in Dallas, Texas, and Eagles' Trace in Houston, Texas. "Thus far, it has been a great experience. Many of the residents are anticipating my arrival and provide a warm welcome," said Fox. "I have also found that great staff and residents don't only exist at Wind Crest. It's an Erickson thing."

Fox does not have a scheduled arrival date for each site, but is rather savoring the experience with each day that goes by. He is taking lodge with friends, family and motels. "Driving is what I love to do," he said. "I will keep doing it for as long as I can." Fox is currently visiting with friends in Chandler, Texas.

Fox is using this driving excursion to all Erickson campuses as an opportunity to lend assistance to any clubs or organizations that may need a helping hand. "I am very involved with different clubs at Wind Crest," he said. "I particularly help with the on-campus television station, and I am delighted to assist wherever I can."

In addition to his willingness to provide assistance, Fox is set to keenly observe the differences and similarities among the campuses. "When you hear about residents from other campuses, you always wonder what's it like, and this is my opportunity to get a first hand view of what goes on at the different campuses."

Fox's passion for travel developed while he worked for Martin Marietta, and continued through his 45 years of camping and driving his RV. "I love to travel around and see different places," said Fox. "I particularly enjoy driving; ever since I lost my wife I have found great therapeutic value in it. It really helps me a lot."
