Small and medium-sized European biotechnology and life science enterprises can now submit their entries for the EUROPEAN BIOTECHNICA AWARD 2008. The award, worth a total of EUR 100,000, has been presented to innovative biotechnology and life science companies by Deutsche Messe AG, Hannover and its partners each year since 2003.
A cash prize of EUR 20,000 awaits the award winner. EUR 80,000 in non-cash prizes will be presented to the overall victor and the second and third placed entries. This year's award ceremony takes place on 6 October at the Official Opening of BIOTECHNICA 2008 in Hannover. "We want to support young European biotech companies that have developed pioneering products. The award offers them a superb opportunity to bring their highly promising developments to a wide audience," says Stephan Kuhne, Member of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG.
Entries must be in by 1 June 2008. Entry forms, Conditions for Participation and information on past prizewinners can be found at www.biotechnica.de/award_e. Last year saw entries from 27 companies from five countries. The winner in 2007 was the British Renovo Group from Manchester. Second and third place went to Danish companies Genmab and Bavarian Nordic.
The 11-strong panel of judges with experts from six countries will be chaired by Professor Peter Stadler, CEO of Artemis Pharmaceuticals, Cologne.
The presentation of the sixth EUROPEAN BIOTECHNICA AWARD will kick off BIOTECHNICA 2008, which is being held at the Hannover Exhibition Center from 7 to 9 October. In 2007, 863 exhibitors from 32 nations showcased their latest products, developments and services to around 13,000 visitors at this leading European biotechnology event.
