Sierra Monolithics Expands Senior Management Team -- Names New Vice President of Worldwide Sales and New Vice President of Optical Networking Products
REDONDO BEACH, Calif.-(Business Wire)-March 13, 2008 - Sierra Monolithics, a leading supplier of high performance analog and RF ICs for Wireless, Optical, and Microwave/Millimeter Wave applications, today announced the addition of Derek Obata as VP of Worldwide Sales and Jay Cormier as VP of Optical Networking Products.
Mr. Obata is a semiconductor industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, and business development. Before joining SMI, Derek served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Ikanos Communications, where he drove sales leading to a successful IPO in 2005. Prior to that, Mr. Obata was involved in another successful IPO in 1999 at PCTEL, Inc., where he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the core business unit and as Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Mr. Obata holds a MBA from University of Phoenix and a B.S. in Engineering Science from UC Berkeley.
Mr. Cormier is a seasoned technology executive with over twenty years' experience in the analog semiconductor industry, with a background in marketing, engineering, and general management. Jay joined SMI from Mindspeed Technologies, where he served as senior vice president and general manager of the High Performance Analog Business Unit. Prior to that, Jay spent 20 years at ADI in various roles managing RF, analog, and mixed signal businesses in markets such as RF/wireless infrastructure, broadband access, data and telecommunications, video, industrial, instrumentation, and automotive. Jay holds a MBA from Northeastern University and a BSEE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
