Introducing PopJax: The New Entertainment Destination for Online Video and Pop Culture Gaming Fans

SAN FRANCISCO-(Business Wire)-March 13, 2008 - New online entertainment company, PopJax, Inc., today debuted their online video trivia gaming service, PopJax.com. The site builds pop culture and current events trivia games around one of the most popular and untapped resources on the Web — video. PopJax has created an extensive collection of video trivia questions designed to test players' knowledge of topics such as TV, movies, celebrities, sports, politics and music. Thousands of questions in hundreds of categories are all linked to video clips. By combining the three most celebrated applications on the Web: social networking, user-generated video and gaming, PopJax allows players to interact with content they love in an exciting new way. Users are encouraged to challenge friends, as well as play and create games for a chance to win cash prizes offered weekly and monthly.

PopJax has assembled an experienced and successful team of entertainment executives with a long history of creating content for TV and game shows. PopJax founders Doug Barry and Larry Taymor have a combined twenty-five years of game show experience. Doug Barry, PopJax CEO, has been involved with producing shows such as "The Jokers Wild" and "Win, Lose or Draw" and is the son of legendary game show pioneer Jack Barry. Larry Taymor, COO, worked for more than twenty years in interactive television production, creating interactive versions of hit shows such as "Wheel of Fortune," "Family Feud," "The Dating Game" and "Jeopardy." Joining the PopJax founders as head writer is Arnie Meisner, who has written for award-winning game shows including "The Family Feud," and the "Hollywood Squares." In addition to Barry, Taymor and Meisner, PopJax has amassed a team of professional trivia writers and editors who have been working for more than a year to create the trivia archive for PopJax, with more questions added every day.

"As lifelong game show professionals and video enthusiasts, we thought there was a void in the current casual online games offerings, and we felt that the most popular aspects of the Internet — online video and social networking — were being ignored," says Doug Barry, PopJax CEO. "With PopJax, we've created a highly engaging video trivia game experience that also combines a prize system similar to game shows. Furthermore, the game experience will continuously expand, as more and more content is brought online and more users begin submitting questions. Now purveyors of pop culture trivia can finally be rewarded with cash for their databank of useless knowledge!"

PopJax writers scour the Internet daily for the most topical and popular videos and then create questions around them — so PopJax trivia content is always current, relevant and expanding. Players can either create single or multi-category games by choosing from more than one hundred different categories. After players select their categories, PopJax randomly assembles a game board that features nine or 16 video trivia questions (four by four or three by three). Players can also choose their own categories to create their own personalized boards.

Players can choose from three different game modes: PopQuiz, Pop4 and PopSpin:

— PopQuiz: answer all 16 questions as quickly as possible before time runs out to earn the highest score

— Pop4: answer four questions in a row before they receive four strikes

— PopSpin: players are required to randomly play game squares, based upon where the spinner lands

Every week, players who receive the highest score will be awarded $250 and automatically entered in the lottery for a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize. PopJax also encourages users to create their own trivia questions by offering $1,000 every month for the best user-generated question, as voted by the editorial staff.

After the initial launch period, PopJax has plans to release new questions and categories every day, with the goal of reaching 100,000 new questions by the end of 2008. In January, PopJax also launched a Facebook application, which can be accessed at http://apps.facebook.com/popjaxx/. A multiplayer feature will be available in the spring of 2008, allowing players to build customized game boards to challenge their friends and compete in tournaments for bigger prizes. Eventually, PopJax will open the Web site to advertisers. The infinite customizability for its players lends itself well to rich and targeted ad models, as advertisers will be able to place ads within specific categories and questions to reach narrowly targeted demographics.
