National Lampoon to Feature Original Content on Dailymotion
NEW YORK-(Business Wire)-February 19, 2008 - National Lampoon Inc. (AMEX:NLN), the most widely recognized brand in comedy, today announced a licensing deal to place content on Dailymotion, the world's largest independent video sharing site. The agreement will bring National Lampoon's web videos to Dailymotion's global audience. In turn, the two companies will share in advertising revenues generated by the additional content.
The agreement gives Dailymotion access to National Lampoon's acclaimed comedy programming, including its hugely popular webisodes, which have drawn praise from top critics nationwide. National Lampoon will also be providing premium comedy content in HD on the newly launched Dailymotion HD player.
All of National Lampoon's new content will be made available on Dailymotion's Funny channel, where Dailymotion's team will program the licensed content alongside original content from Dailymotion's Motionmaker program for the creative community. Combining professional along with user-generated content around users' areas of interest allows them to more easily discover, view, and share the content they love.
"Dailymotion is proud to include original content from such a well-known and respected brand as National Lampoon," said Dailymotion Executive Chairman Mark Zaleski. "We believe the addition of this content will complement the creative contributions of our MotionMakers and significantly benefit both our users and National Lampoon."
"We're delighted to be joining forces with Dailymotion," stated Daniel Laikin, National Lampoon's Chief Executive Officer. "National Lampoon has found online video to be an invaluable way to introduce new fans to our brand, while generating additional advertiser and sponsor revenue. We are excited about and looking forward to the additional exposure that teaming up with a site with such broad worldwide audience is sure to bring."
