Literary Feast 2008 Brings Nationally Renowned Authors to South Florida, March 14 and 15

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-(Business Wire)-February 18, 2008 - The 20th edition of Literary Feast, one of Broward County's most popular events of the season, will bring 20 acclaimed authors to South Florida, March 14 and 15, 2008. Benefiting the Broward Public Library Foundation, the annual celebration will feature three separate events culminating with LitLIVE!, a free event open to the public on Saturday, March 15 at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). NSU is Title Sponsor and the Sun-Sentinel is Presenting Sponsor of Literary Feast 2008.

Literary Feast 2008 will showcase the works of recognized authors from around the country, including former U.S. Marine and Parade magazine columnist James Brady, popular New York City writer and dating columnist Amy Cohen, Vanity Fair contributor and celebrity chronicler Kevin Sessums, national best-selling author Stephen Hunter, as well as South Florida's own famed interior designer Cecil Hayes and Emmy Award-winning journalist Jennifer Valoppi, among others.

Literary Feast offers everyone from young aspiring writers and seasoned booklovers to South Florida weekenders the opportunity to meet and mingle with the authors at three distinct events:

1. Novel Day for Students (March 14) - Unique educational outreach program during which the authors visit with more than 3,500 students in area high schools. This program is underwritten by BankAtlantic.

2. Night of Literary Feasts (March 14) - Premier literary event featuring a cocktail reception and book signing at the Broward County Main Library followed by a series of intimate dinner parties with the authors hosted by private donors.

3. LitLIVE! (March 15) - Free daylong series of author dialogues, panel discussions and book signings at the main campus of Nova Southeastern University in Davie. This program is underwritten by the Albert E. and Birdie W. Einstein Fund, Inc.

The Literary Feast excitement continues with a special presentation on Monday, March 17 at 12:30 p.m. when international bestselling author Jeffrey Archer will discuss his latest novel, A Prisoner of Birth, at Barnes & Noble Booksellers Broward Mall in Plantation. Book sales from the event will benefit the Broward Public Library Foundation.

"With a strong line-up of dynamic authors and a diverse range of genres from romance and thrillers to history and how-to's, this year's Literary Feast is sure to please every palette," said Broward Public Library Foundation Board Member Christa Porter, who is also Literary Feast Co-Chair along with Suzanne Migdall, both of Fort Lauderdale. "Our mission is to enrich and engage our local communities in lifelong learning, which has been made possible through the efforts of the Broward Public Library Foundation and the continuous support it receives from our generous donors."

"As an institution of higher learning, we value the role literature and writing play in shaping today's young adults," said Dr. George Hanbury, NSU's Executive Vice President for Administration and a Broward Public Library Foundation Board member.
