CDW Named Official Sponsor of LPGA Player Paula Creamer
VERNON HILLS, Ill.-(Business Wire)-February 12, 2008 - CDW Corporation today announced its sponsorship of LPGA golfer Paula Creamer, who is ranked fifth worldwide, to a long term partnership. Named last month as "Official Technology Partner of the PGA TOUR," CDW will enhance its commitment to professional golf by supporting one of its most exciting young players.
As a leading provider of technology products and services to business, government and education, CDW will work with Creamer to configure technology solutions geared toward enhancing her game. This partnership is emblematic of technology's increasing role in improving player performance and fan enjoyment of professional golf.
"I am thrilled to enter into this sponsorship with CDW," said the 21-year-old Creamer, "I grew up with technology, and I am eager to work with CDW to elevate my game on the LPGA TOUR. Ultimately, fans will benefit as the professional golf community continues to adopt technology in all aspects of golf."
"Paula Creamer is one of the most exciting LPGA players to grace the greens. She represents a new generation of professional golfers who have embraced technology and used it effectively to improve their game," said Mark Gambill, chief marketing officer, CDW. "We welcome her to the CDW team and look forward to leveraging our IT expertise to support her."
No stranger to high performance with six worldwide wins already, Creamer won her first LPGA event four days before graduating from Pendleton High School in 2005. She won the Sybase Classic to become the youngest winner of a multi-round event in LPGA history at the age of 18. Creamer followed that up by winning the prestigious Evian Masters in France which led to her earning LPGA Rolex Rookie of The Year honors for 2005.
Last year she enjoyed victories both at the season-opening SBS Open at Turtle Bay and The Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions as well as 11 other top-ten finishes. Creamer finished the 2007 season third on the official LPGA money list. In 85 tournaments during her remarkable three-year career she has finished in the top ten 45 times, including 30 times in the top five.
In a related move, CDW launched its five year sponsorship as the Official Technology Partner of the PGA TOUR in January of this year at the Buick Invitational in San Diego. The company is currently working with the TOUR to enhance its technological capabilities on and off the green. In particular, CDW is working with the TOUR on ways to enhance its SHOTlink scoring technology and make its information even more accessible to fans.
