Japanese Bullet Train Returns to San Francisco

-(Business Wire)-January 31, 2008 - California High-Speed Rail Authority: -0- *T What: Transportation and the environment are forefront in policymaking and legislative discussions. The construction of a high-speed train system in California will decrease traffic congestion, improve air quality, and decrease our dependence on foreign oil. A seminar will be held highlighting "Shinkansen," Japan's high-speed rail system. The California High-Speed Rail Authority is currently working to plan and design a statewide high-speed train system. A general obligation bond, providing critical funding for the project, is set for the November 2008 ballot. The seminar will provide vital information to public officials, policy makers and the public about high-speed trains and their impact on Japan. The Japan Overseas Rolling Stock Association and the Institution are hosting the seminar for Transport Policy Studies. When: Friday, February 1, 2008 Presentations from 9 a.m. to Noon.
