Pilot Freight Services Appoints New President
LIMA, Pa.-(Business Wire)-January 31, 2008 - Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, announced today that Lou Cortese, a long-time veteran of the company, has been appointed President. The announcement was made by Pilot's Chairman, Richie Phillips. Cortese succeeds Gene Malcolm, who will remain with the company and serve as Vice President of Strategic Planning. Cortese, who holds more than 23 years of freight forwarding experience, began his career with Pilot Freight Services in 1985 and has held a succession of key operational positions during his tenure.
"Lou Cortese has spent nearly his entire career as an integral member of the Pilot family, most recently serving as Executive Vice President of Operations and Transportation," says Phillips. "His years of experience and deep understanding of Pilot's operational infrastructure, our culture, and people bring a tremendous body of knowledge that will move the company forward as it emerges as a global player in logistics and transportation."
Gene Malcolm, who stepped down from the position due to family obligations, joined the company in 1987 as a computer programmer, and has since risen through the company leadership, culminating with his appointment as president.
