Electron Solar Energy Acquires Global, Patented Cable Manufacturer with $1 Million in Sales and 4,000+ Customers
MIAMI-(Business Wire)-January 31, 2008 - Electron Solar Energy (OTC:ESRG), an international distributor of alternative energy systems, announced today that it has acquired 100% ownership in Express Communications Supply, a designer and manufacturer of patented, customized cables and battery back-up systems to the global telecommunications industry. With this acquisition, Electron Solar gains Express Communications' patented designs, 4,000-plus customers in 50 states, $1 million in annual sales and a 3,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art manufacturing site located in Boca Raton, Florida.
The Express Quick Cables(TM) branded line of cables can be installed in major manufacturer's telephone systems, including Avaya, Comdial, Panasonic, Samsung, Tadiran, and Toshiba. These cables are primarily used in large-scale commercial office and industrial telephone installations for their ability to reduce installation time by two man hours, on average, compared to traditional wiring methods. "Express Communications adds important intellectual properties to our portfolio, along with a talented staff, and a facility full of sophisticated, automated manufacturing equipment, to expand our business," said Christopher Quinn, President and CEO of Electron Solar Energy. "We can now enhance quality control in our cabling, and accelerate our lead times to assemble solar energy kits by manufacturing the cables in-house. This will help boost our gross margins during 2008. Electron's vertical integration into manufacturing has been a goal of ours for some time."
Roberta Ames Kandell, Division Vice President of Express Communications Supply, commented, "This is a win-win situation for everyone involved. This opportunity will give us even better capabilities to provide high quality, competitively priced products. We will continue to serve our telecommunications customers seamlessly, while we enter the emerging solar energy marketplace. Our employees, customers and share-holders will all benefit as bottom line financial growth is quickly recognized."
