Qwest 'Big Ticket' Giveaway Winners Announced
PHOENIX-(Business Wire)-January 31, 2008 - The Grand Prize winner in the sweepstakes is "so jazzed I just can't believe it!" The day after the big game, Beverly Yocum, of Lake Havasu City, is picking up the other half of her prize from Sanderson Ford-Lincoln Mercury. It's the use of a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid for two years. "This couldn't come at a better time," said Beverly. "My car hasn't been running so well lately. We'll be driving my daughter's car to Glendale."
Qwest, along with Sanderson Ford Lincoln-Mercury and Fry's Food Stores, just wrapped up a two and a half week long sweepstakes open to Arizona residents only. Qwest and its partners wanted to enhance the chance for locals to experience the most sought-after ticket in sports. People entered the contest in one of three ways — by going to the Qwest.com Web site, or getting game pieces at either Sanderson dealerships or Fry's deli counters.
"This great partnership with Sanderson and Fry's enabled us to send Beverly and another couple to the game of the year in Glendale," said Scott Simanson, Qwest vice president and general manger. "It was a lot of fun calling up the winners and breaking the good news."
The first place winner from Scottsdale also won two tickets to the game in Glendale. Other prizes include a Char-Broil Grill and several Fry's Food gift certificates to help buy food for game watch-parties and backyard barbecues.
Yocum says she's been to one other professional football game in her life. "I think it was the Raiders when we lived in Northern California."
And who is she rooting for? "I have to go for the Patriots; they just have too much experience."
