Market Development Group Announces California Utility Collaboration to Transform Existing Home Energy Workshop Set for March 5-6
DOWNEY, Calif.-(Business Wire)-January 30, 2008 - A "California Utility Collaboration to Transform Existing Homes with Home Performance with ENERGY STAR(R)" workshop will be presented on March 5-6, 2008 at the Southern California Gas Company's Energy Resources Center in Downey, Calif. The workshop is co-sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy with support from Conservation Services Group and Lockheed Martin with Building Performance Institute, Electric & Gas Industries Association, Market Development Group, Performance Systems Development and others. The host utility is Southern California Gas Company.
This workshop brings together electric and gas utilities in California and neighboring states in an introduction and overview of the emerging field of comprehensive "home performance" improvements to existing homes. The workshop goal is to encourage broader adoption of such innovative programs across the West, building on the experience and knowledge developed in similar programs in California, Oregon and elsewhere. This new approach is essential to reach the deep home energy savings needed to meet energy resource, security, economic and climate needs.
Attendees will learn how program sponsors in 20+ states are beginning to transform the home improvement marketplace beyond free "clipboard" home energy audits and single-measure rebates with a whole-house approach to energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy and "carbon "footprint" issues. Key Western utilities and contractors already involved in this movement will be featured.
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR(R) is a national program from the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE that encourages a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and comfort at home, while helping to protect the environment.
All Registrants will receive a new edition of the "Home Performance with ENERGY STAR(R) Industry Compendium" - an online snapshot of key home performance industry programs, allies and resources for prospective program sponsors along with a bibliography of published papers, presentations, proceedings and research studies regarding home performance topics.
This workshop is intended for program designers with energy utilities of all sizes in California and other Western states as well as consultants and other program design allies looking for comprehensive, integrated market transformation program platforms for the improvement of existing homes.
