NCTA Issues Call for 2008 Vanguard Award Nominations

WASHINGTON-(Business Wire)-January 29, 2008 - The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) today issued its annual call for nominations for the Vanguard Awards, the cable industry's highest honor. Now in its 43rd year, the Vanguard Awards honor the cable industry's foremost leaders and dedicated professionals whose accomplishments merit the recognition of the entire cable industry.

The awards will be presented at a special luncheon on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 during The 2008 Cable Show, NCTA's 57th Annual Convention and International Exposition. Cable '08 runs May 18-20, 2008, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Nominations for the Vanguard Awards are due to NCTA by Friday, March 7, 2008, and further information and nomination forms are available at www.thecableshow.com.

"The Vanguard Awards are designed to honor the visionaries that continue to shape the success of our industry," said Kyle McSlarrow, NCTA President & CEO. "Each year we recognize the men and women who have built America's broadband infrastructure, and who have demonstrated distinguished leadership at all levels in providing American consumers with innovative digital services and programming."

Inaugurated in 1965, the Vanguard Awards are presented annually to individuals who excel in business, personal commitment to excellence, and whose accomplishments merit the recognition of the entire cable industry. Award winners are honored in the following categories:

— Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership (Man)

— Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership (Woman)

— Vanguard Award for Cable Operations Management

— Vanguard Award for Programmers

— Vanguard Award for Science and Technology

— Vanguard Award for Government and Community Relations

— Vanguard Award for Marketing

— Vanguard Award for Associates and Affiliates

— Vanguard Award for Young Leadership

Award candidates may be nominated by representatives of NCTA member companies, and winners are selected by an Awards Committee composed of several members of the NCTA Board of Directors as well as former Award winners.
