Cartoon Classics Bring Their Fun and Mystery to a New Generation with... The Pink Panther & Friends Classic Cartoon Collection Volume Six: The Inspector

LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-January 29, 2008 - A blundering pair of crime-fighters who scored as two of the most memorable movie cartoon characters of the '60s are back in all their hilarious glory in The Pink Panther & Friends Classic Cartoon Collection Volume Six: The Inspector, debuting on DVD March 4 from MGM Home Entertainment. Bringing to DVD for the first time some of the funniest and most unique cartoon short subjects of the era, The Pink Panther & Friends Classic Cartoon Collection Volume Six: The Inspector showcases 17 hilarious adventures from 1965 - 1967, available in one collection. Combining witty dialogue, wild mysteries, and avant-garde villains, the cartoons thrived on the slapstick teamwork of The Inspector and Sergeant Deux-Deux - both voiced by Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) winner Pat Harrington Jr. ("One Day at a Time").

First seen in the animated opening credits of the 1964 comedy "A Shot in the Dark" (second in the classic Pink Panther feature film series), the Inspector headlined his very own cartoon short in 1965, when "The Great DeGaulle Stone Operation" debuted in movie theaters in tandem with the James Bond smash "Thunderball." Overnight, the bumbling Inspector and his dedicated assistant Deux-Deux gained millions of fans. More adventures followed for the pair, with the duo solving crime after crime across France in spite of themselves. The cartoons boasted a creative staff of all-star artists who helped define the stylized "cool" of '60s and '70s animation. The Inspector cartoons were produced by David DePatie (co-creator of the animated Pink Panther) with directors Friz Freleng (co-creator of the animated Pink Panther), Gerry Chiniquy ("Transformers"), Robert McKimson ("Looney Tunes") and George Singer ("The Bullwinkle Show"), and scripts by John W. Dunn ("Daffy Duck's Quackbusters"), among others. The Pink Panther & Friends Classic Cartoon Collection Volume Six: The Inspector will be available for the suggested retail price of $14.98 U.S./$15.98 Canada.
