Taco Bell(R) Says 'Hola!' to New Fiesta Platters During Super Bowl

IRVINE, Calif.-(Business Wire)-January 29, 2008 - This Sunday, Taco Bell will turn its Super Bowl Ad into a Fiesta—complete with Mariachis—with the introduction of its new Fiesta Platters, a complete real meal solution that packages together all the favorites dishes of a sit down Mexican meal in a convenient and portable plate. Fiesta Platters include either two premium soft tacos or a Grilled Stuft Burrito, made with Grilled marinated all-white-meat Chicken or Carne Asada Steak, beans, rice and a side of tortilla chips and tangy salsa. Suggested retail price is $4.99 and is available for a limited time at participating locations nationwide beginning February 4.

"At a time when consumers are looking for creative ways to stretch their dollars, our delicious new Fiesta Platters deliver a premium, sit-down restaurant meal on the go for less than five dollars," said David Ovens, chief marketing officer, Taco Bell Corp. "We're out to prove that real meals don't just come in bags, and that with Fiesta Platters you can get it quickly, but take the time you want to sit down and enjoy. We call it 'get it fast, eat it slow.'"

Taco Bell is launching its newest premium meal with a 30 second spot in high-definition during Super Bowl XLII. The ad features two guys rushing through an office to a lunch meeting carrying their Fiesta Platters when suddenly they're stopped by a Mariachi. The Mariachi says their meeting can wait and encourages them to sit down and enjoy their meal. Two other Mariachis who bring out a table and chairs in the middle of the office for the workers to sit down and begin to play music. A female office worker walks by and asks what's going on. The Mariachi looks up, and says "hola." The girl later lets down her hair and responds with "hola!" The ad creative was handled by Draftfcb in Irvine, California.

"We have the perfect opportunity to launch Fiesta Platters and reach millions and millions of value-conscious consumers during the Super Bowl," said Ovens. Unlike many other marketers, the Super Bowl marks the launch window for Fiesta Platters, so this is our opportunity to drive transactions versus developing a brand-centric spot."
