Publix Recognized as One of FORTUNE's 100 Best Companies to Work For
LAKELAND, Fla.-(Business Wire)-January 23, 2008 - For the 11th consecutive year, Publix has been honored as one of FORTUNE magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For." Publix was ranked No. 91 on this year's list and was one of only 14 companies to have made the list every year since its inception in 1998. Publix also ranked No. 32 on FORTUNE's Best Large-Sized Company list.
"It is such an honor to know that our associates' responses reflect that we're a great place to work," said Publix CEO Charlie Jenkins Jr.
The ranking was determined by survey responses from randomly selected employees, evaluating trust in management, camaraderie and pride in the company. Each company was also required to complete a questionnaire on its policies and culture.
The story will appear in the Feb. 4, 2008, issue of FORTUNE. More information about the survey and how companies were ranked can be found at FORTUNE's Web site, www.fortune.com.
Publix is privately owned and operated by its 146,000 employees, with 2006 sales of $21.7 billion. Currently Publix has 928 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. In addition, Publix's dedication to superior quality and customer service is recognized as tops in the grocery business, most recently by an American Customer Satisfaction Index survey.
