San Francisco Waldorf High School Students to Present Unique Eurythmy Dance Performance
SAN FRANCISCO-(Business Wire)-February 11, 2009 - San Francisco Waldorf School, an independent, co-educational, non-sectarian school, announced its fourteenth annual gala performance of the unique art of Eurythmy February 14th and 15th in San Francisco. Eurythmy, an enlivening of the art of dance inaugurated by Rudolf Steiner, reveals the essence of music and the spoken word in gesture and movement, in a breathtaking blend of choreography, sound, light, and color.
The Eurythmy Troupe is composed of twenty-five San Francisco Waldorf High School students, ages fifteen to eighteen. The Troupe is renowned for the grace, variety and professional quality of its performances, and has toured world-wide, to Egypt, Japan, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, as well as in the U.S. This year’s tour is to Mumbai, Udwada, and Hyderabad, India, at the invitation of several schools and communities there.
The program, Endless Time includes: The White Snake, a fairy tale; Endless Time by R. Tagore; poetry from The Bhagavad Gita, Neruda, and Gandhi; music by Beethoven, Satie, and Debussy; humoresques, and more.
