53rd Annual L.A. Boat Show Finds Boaters in a Buying Mood
LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-February 11, 2009 - The L.A. Boat Show opened on a high note considering the challenging economic times. On the whole, exhibitors reported more interest that far exceeded expectations.
"We're happy and making sales at the show," commented Scott Driesbach, Advantage Boats COO with factory headquarters in Lake Havasu City, AZ. "It's been a long six months, but after this Saturday and Sunday, we're feeling much better about what 2009 holds in store. We closed several deals the first day and the introduction of our new 34 XFlight model created a lot of consumer buzz and plenty of quality leads that we'll be following up in the weeks and months ahead."
"This was pretty much the sentiment expressed by the majority of exhibitors at the show," said SCMA Executive Director, Dave Geoffroy. "What was very encouraging was the fact that all price ranges of boats were moving from entry level family boats to larger cruisers and motoryachts and everything in between. There are a lot of great deals out there in the market and smart buyers are taking advantage."
Preliminary attendance numbers indicate that the visitor count was virtually even with 2008 totals. The difference this year was that many more people came with an intention to make a purchase while prices and interest rates are uncommonly low.
"This is a great momentum builder for our Southern California marine industry," remarked Geoffroy. "We were overdue for some good news and this definitely delivered. We'll continue to aggressively advertise and promote our show for the final five days (February 11-15) and do whatever it takes to get this boating season off to a positive start."
In addition to more than 1,000 new boats and over an acre of marine accessories on display, the L.A. Boat Show, presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California, at the L.A. Convention Center has confirmed that Ashley Force, the first female NHRA Funny Car winner and integral member of the legendary John Force Racing Team, and NHRA Top Fuel icon, Cory McClenathan will make separate personal appearances at the L.A. Boat Show later this week.
Cory "Mac" will greet fans at the Nordic Boats display on Friday, February 13 from 4 to 7pm. Ashley Force will be signing autographs and taking photos with fans on Sunday, February 15 from 11am to 1pm, also at the Nordic Boats exhibit.
"We're very excited to have these world class motorsports champions join us at the L.A. Boat Show," commented SCMA Executive Director, Dave Geoffroy. "I hope all of their fans will come out to meet them for this unique autograph and photo opportunity."
Also appearing at the boat show on Friday, February 13 from 12 noon to 4pm is the popular KLAC 570AM sports talk trio of Chris Myers, Steve Hartman and Vic 'the Brick' Jacobs broadcasting live along with the Laker Girls.
By just attending the 53rd annual L.A. Boat Show, it's a virtual guarantee that visitors will be money ahead when they enter the show thanks to a brand new "Super-Saver" Coupon book promotion.
Everyone entering the show will receive a free boat show coupon book filled with twenty-eight valuable discount offers on products, services, vacations, houseboat rentals and magazine subscriptions provided by the boat show exhibitors and totaling more than $1,000.00 in potential savings.
