NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.-(Business Wire)-February 9, 2009 - Ringler Associates®, the nation’s oldest and largest structured settlement firm, turned the company’s 34th annual meeting and golf tournament in Newport Beach, California, into a fund-raising event February 5th, collecting over $8,000 to benefit the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), the largest cross-disability membership organization in the U.S., announced Ringler Associates Chairman Michael J. Casey. During the meeting on Friday, February 6th, Chairman Casey and Ringler® President and CEO Robert Blattenberg presented the check to AAPD President and CEO Andrew Imparato, who delivered the keynote address at Ringler Associates' annual meeting.

Imparato said, “Structured settlements can be seen as a model of how to provide long-term support to people with significant disabilities in a manner that does not discourage them from working to their full potential and participating in the economic mainstream.”

Casey added, “AAPD members are especially suited to settlement annuities because a well-designed plan will not disrupt other benefits they may be receiving, such as Medicaid or Medicare, and their annuity payments are guaranteed and tax free.”

In his keynote address Imparato said that the new administration and Congress offer a number of opportunities for improving the economic status of people with disabilities in the U.S., including the need to modernize large entitlement programs so that they more consistently promote the goals of Americans with Disabilities Act, which are equality of opportunity, full participation, economic self-sufficiency, and independent living.

“The goal for all of us who work in a field that seeks to help individuals in need is to help them improve the quality of their lives, which is what the AAPD does and Ringler’s services add another layer of protection to their lives with settlement annuity payments that are guaranteed and tax free. We are proud to provide assistance to Andy and the AAPD,” concluded Blattenberg.
