NCKU 2009 Fall Application Kicks Off
TAINAN, Taiwan-(Business Wire)-February 5, 2009 - The application for NCKU admission to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs for Fall Semester 2009 is kicking off. The application deadline for enrollment in this coming Fall is March 31st. Applicants must both complete on-line application forms and mail in with the application materials to the Office of International Affairs, NCKU. There are in total 23 Bachelor’s programs, 58 Master’s programs & 43 Ph.D. programs available for international students. NCKU also provides free Chinese language courses, scholarship with monthly allowance/ assistantship/ tuition waivers, and free on-campus accommodation. Foreign students with bachelor’s degree are eligible for Master’s programs and those with Master’s degree are eligible for Ph.D. programs. The admission roster will be approved by the International Student Admission Committee according to the recommendation of the concerned departments or institutes. The application results will be posted on-line at http://www.ncku.edu.tw/en/ or http://www.ncku.edu.tw/~ooia/eng/ tentatively on May 13, 2009. The admission letters will also be mailed to students individually.
To attract more outstanding international students, NCKU will provide International Student Scholarship with Full Grant. Eligible international students will be waived on their tuition, registration fees and on-campus accommodation, plus scholarships. The scholarships for master students and doctoral students could reach in maximum NT$ 8,000 (US$ 242) and NT$ 15,000 (US$ 454) per month, respectively.
According to the Office of International Affairs, NCKU will launch the zero-week orientation for international students with local trustful students to assist the new students in the beginning of the new academic year. In addition, the university provides the on-campus accommodation, free Chinese courses, tutoring-assistant program and NCKU Outstanding International Student Scholarship to encourage the students in the endeavors. During their study at NCKU, the university has always made them available to all international students on the on-campus counseling, festival activities and cultural trips to enrich their international vision.
Noticeably, an individual who meets one of the following conditions are NOT eligible for application as an international student: 1. The applicant has ROC. nationality (as defined in Article 2 of the Law of Nationality). 2. The applicant had ROC nationality, but has officially renounced it for more than 8 years, up until the class starting date of NCKU semester. 3. The applicant holds the citizenship of Hong Kong and Macau or the nationality of People’s Republic of China. 4. The applicant has overseas Chinese status. 5. The applicant has obtained a high school degree as a foreign student in Taiwan, ROC, and would like to pursue a further degree. 6. The applicant has been expelled by a university or college in Taiwan, ROC.
All applicants need to submit the following document no latter than March 31st, 2009: two copies of the completed application form, a photocopy of the applicant’s diploma from the highest education as well as a copy of an official transcript and financial statement, all notarized by the ROC embassies, consulates, or missions abroad or by institutes authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC, along with a copy of the title page of your passport, declaration, two recommendation letters, a study plan in Chinese or English consisting of education background, research interest, motivation for further study methodology, relevant documents such as awards, publications, or conducted projects helpful for evaluation, and other documents as required by the requirement of the department/institute.
