Datacard Group Awarded Contract to Automate Voter Check-in for the Commonwealth of Virginia
MINNETONKA, Minn.-(Business Wire)-February 4, 2009 - Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, announced it won a four-year state-wide contract to help the Commonwealth of Virginia improve the efficiency, security and auditability of voter check-in using the Datacard® Advocate™ precinct management system. The first phase, implemented for the historic 2008 election, helped more than 100 precincts expedite check-in, automate management of voter registration data and eliminate the expense of printing paper poll books. The contract award allows more than 2,000 eligible precincts in the Commonwealth to implement this precinct solution during the upcoming election cycles.

We experienced no problems on election day with this solution.”
In the eight weeks before the election, Datacard Group worked with its local dealer, BEC Plastic Card Solutions, to inventory, test, load and deploy hundreds of refurbished laptops with Advocate system software. Datacard Group and BEC also provided extensive services including project management, deployment, training and on-site support.

The Advocate system will launch officially at the National Association of Secretaries of State Winter Conference, starting February 6 in Washington, D.C.
