Over $100 Million in Boats on Display at L.A. Convention Center Starting February 7, 2009
LOS ANGELES-(Business Wire)-February 3, 2009 - The 53rd Annual Los Angeles Boat Show, coming to the L.A. Convention Center, February 7-8 & 11-15, 2009 is undeniably the premier consumer boat show in the western United States, both in terms of size and number of boats on display. This year, the L.A. Boat Show, brought to you by the Automobile Club of Southern California, the official watercraft insurance provider*, will showcase more than $100 million in new boats including every type of boat imaginable ranging from small fishing boats and inflatable dinghies to exotic high performance sport boats, luxurious motor yachts and sailboats. In addition to all the boats, the L.A. Boat Show also features thousands of the latest marine accessory products and services.
As evidence that recreational boating is genuinely an affordable family activity, the 2009 L.A. Boat Show is creating a first-ever “The Fun Starts Here” boat pavilion in the main lobby of the Convention Center. “We want to emphasize the fact that boating is well within the financial means of almost everyone,” comments SCMA Executive Director Dave Geoffroy. “And the best way to do that is by exhibiting a variety of very affordable boat, motor and trailer packages that fit all facets of the boating lifestyle. We'll have over thirty new boats at the pavilion which are ideal for fishing, cruising, skiing, wakeboarding, sailing and more that retail to the general public for under $20,000. If someone is interested in getting into boating without making a major investment, they need to come and see this display. We definitely have something very exciting for first-time boat buyers or anyone who would like to get back into the sport and on-the-water.”
In addition to viewing the newest and best that boating has to offer, L.A. Boat Show visitors will receive a special bonus when they attend the 2009 event. Everyday of the boat show, super-saver boating coupon books will be distributed to all ticket purchasers. This exclusive coupon book is filled with offers from boat show exhibitors with everything from discounts on products, services, magazine subscriptions, vacations, houseboat rentals, cool wearing apparel and more worth over $1,000 in savings. And if that’s not enough of an incentive to attend the boat show, maybe “Boater Appreciation Day” on Wednesday, February 11 will do the trick when all boat show admissions for adults are reduced to just $5.00 per person.
L.A. Boat Show visitors will also have an opportunity to meet some of their favorite Los Angeles radio personalities at the boat show. On opening day, Saturday, February 7, popular KKGO 105FM Go Country morning DJ Shawn Parr will be appearing from 11am to 2pm doing live interviews from the boat show main floor. Then on Sunday, February 8, KABC’s “Motorman” Leon Kaplan, a life-long boater, will do his three-hour morning broadcast from the boat show starting at 8:00am. Sport fans will definitely want to stop by for a visit on Friday, February 13 from 12 noon to 4:00pm when the “Loose Cannons” debate the world of sports featuring the opinionated Vic ‘Da Brick’ Jacobs, Steve Hartman and Chris Meyers. The “Loose Cannons” will be joined during their live broadcast by several members of the Laker Girls for photos and autographs with fans.
For motor racing fans, NHRA’s first female Funny Car winner, Ashley Force of the legendary John Force Racing Team, will be appearing at the Boat Show on Sunday, February 15 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Nordic Boats display for autographs and photos. And fans of Top Fuel competition will have an opportunity to meet one of the true icons of NHRA, Cory McClenathan, on Friday, February 13 from 4:00 to 7:00pm, also at Nordic Boats.
Boat show hours are: weekdays (February 11-13 only) 1-9pm, Saturdays 10am-9pm and Sundays, 10am-6pm. Admission is $12 per adult, children 12 & under free. The boat show will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, February 9-10. In addition, the L.A. Boat Show is presenting free seminars during its exclusive seven-day run at the L.A. Convention Center.
