Civil Service Employees Insurance Group Introduces Lower Premiums and Enhanced Features on California CSE Safeguard Automobile Policies
SAN FRANCISCO-(Business Wire)-February 2, 2009 - Civil Service Employees Insurance Group (CSE Insurance), a leader in providing civil service employees with quality protection at affordable rates, today announced significant pricing reductions and enhanced features to its Safeguard Auto Policy for California drivers.
Effective immediately, most renewing policyholders throughout the state will see a decrease on their six-month premiums. While rates can vary with each policyholder depending on a number of factors, drivers in select zip codes – notably Fresno, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, and San Francisco Counties – may see substantial territorial reductions. In some cases, the territorial reduction may be as much as 26%. In California as a whole, premiums will decrease by an average of 4%, and there are a number of other changes that could reduce premiums even further.
Additionally, several features of the CSE Safeguard Auto Policy will be improved for all policyholders, including:
- Reduced Years Licensed Factors for young drivers and family accounts
- Reduced surcharge for Non-Good Driver
- Reduced surcharge for one-point violations
- Reduced Annual Mileage factors for lower mileage drivers
- Revised Rental Reimbursement Coverage
- Reduced Extra Vehicle rates

Civil Servants eligible for further discounts
True to CSE’s commitment to serving the civil service community, California civil servants who hold CSE Safeguard Auto policies are eligible for additional discount programs, including multi-policy discounts, which can be combined with the reduced prices announced today.
Furthermore, current and retired California firefighters, law enforcement professionals, and publicly-employed educators are eligible to receive an additional 10% discount on top of the civil servant discounts on their CSE Safeguard Auto policies.
