SACRAMENTO, Calif.-(Business Wire)-January 30, 2009 - The California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) Education Foundation held a golf tournament at La Costa Resort & Spa, prior to the ALIS (The Americas Lodging Investment Summit) Conference held in San Diego, January 26-28, 2009. Hospitality industry professionals were invited to participate in this tournament including the attendees and sponsors of ALIS.

The tournament provided sponsorship opportunities benefiting CH&LA’s educational efforts for USA Today, Jani-King, Highland Commercial Roofing, and Bannerot Partners. The golf tournament was held on the North Course of La Costa. “It was a great day of golf and a great day for CH&LA’s Education Foundation,” stated Candace Savage, Regional Manager for USA Today and CH&LA Education Foundation Board Director.

“Playing La Costa was terrific! The course is awash with golf history and is a pleasure to play, regardless of skill level. The resort is gorgeous, and the staff pampers you with fabulous service. They really treated us like pros. I certainly plan on returning next year,” stated Larry Mendes, Managing Partner of Bannerot Partners, LLC.

An autographed Rider Cup Flag by pro-golfer Chad Campbell and a $100 American Express Gift Certificate was awarded to the closest hole winner, Alex Stewart of Highland Commercial and the longest drive winner, Paul Verduin, General Manager Embassy Suites LAX. The autographed flag was provided by Jan-King International, a sponsor of the event.

The funds raised from the tournament went directly to the Scholarship program through the CH&LA Education Foundation. CH&LA intends to build upon this inaugural event to make it an integral fundraiser for the Education Foundation and a great networking opportunity for the hospitality industry.
