George Bush Exits With Final Flush; ClarkMade Presents Art Exhibit

SAN FRANCISCO-(Business Wire)-January 16, 2009 - President George W. Bush’s eight years in office has been immortalized in an irreverent collection of urinal sculptures. As President Bush undergoes his final days as President this weekend, a series of six politically charged pieces evoking the mood of many Americans will be unveiled. These ceramic sculptures symbolize what many believe was a disastrous two-term presidency, marked by two ongoing and unpopular wars, growing international anti-American sentiment, dire environmental degradation, and a financial crisis.

The collection is a send-off to one of the most unpopular presidents in modern American history, depicting various images, such as a urinal portrait of President Bush with an open mouth, as well as the American flag and symbols of the stock market being flushed down the drain.

California-based sculptor, Clark Sorensen, created these fully functional fixtures – in high-fire porcelain – to signify his views on the mess created by the Bush administration. “This series appropriately expresses my take on the lasting legacy of George Bush,” said Sorensen. “I feel that so many things are going down the drain as a direct result of the policies made over the last eight years, so the urinal seemed like the perfect metaphor.”

The new exhibit, Down The Drain, opens Sunday at Ruby’s Clay Studio & Gallery in San Francisco.
