Bober Markey Fedorovich Names David Roberts as Director of SEC Advisory Services Group
AKRON, Ohio-(Business Wire)-January 15, 2009 - The regional public accounting firm of Bober Markey Fedorovich (BMF) has named David R. Roberts, CPA, Director of SEC Advisory Services Group, in recognition of his role as the firm’s practice leader in this area. This is a significant part of the firm’s larger SEC Second Source Provider Services Group, which provides publicly traded clients with advisory services related to accounting research, outsourced accounting assistance, financial reporting, transaction structuring and regulatory compliance.
BMF has seen its business with public companies grow rapidly during the past few years, particularly since the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) in 2002. The legislation called for a variety of new regulations involving financial control of public companies, including a provision that prohibits a CPA firm, which serves as a company’s auditor, from providing accounting, tax and other non-audit consulting services. As a result, BMF has seen significant new engagements from public companies.
BMF’s SEC Second Source Provider Services Group provides a wide range of services to publicly traded companies:
- Accounting and tax advisory services
- Accounting research
- Structuring and analysis of significant accounting transactions
- Outsourced accounting assistance including FAS 109 income tax accounting services
- Financial reporting (10-K and 10-Q preparation)
- Internal control review, documentation and recommendations
- Qualified benefit plan audits
- Tax and internal audit outsourcing
- Corporate executive tax programs
- Valuations and FASB 141-142 business combination accounting
- Transaction support and financial advisory services
- Forensic accounting and fraud prevention services
- Business regeneration
- Interim financial management
Roberts joined BMF in early 2008 bringing with him extensive Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and transaction accounting experience and expertise, including significant “Big Four” CPA firm experience. Previously, Roberts served in several positions at First National Bank of Pennsylvania, including corporate controller overseeing accounting, SEC reporting, transaction due diligence and integration and income taxes. Roberts also served as senior manager with Ernst & Young, during which time he worked on a number of SEC clients. He also gained considerable acquisition experience from assignments in the Silicon Valley and Washington D.C. technology corridors. Roberts earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance in 1991 from Miami University.
