Samsung’s Application Processor Powers the New Lowrance HDS Series of GPS-Chartplotter and Fishfinder Systems

LAS VEGAS-(Business Wire)-January 8, 2009 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world’s leader in advanced semiconductor solutions, announced today that its award winning S3C6410 application processor is the power driving Navico’s new line of Lowrance branded HDS high-definition combination chartplotter and fishfinder marine GPS devices. Samsung’s S3C6410 device, which fully supports the advanced technical requirement for marine GPS systems, offered Navico’s engineering team a high-performance, cost-effective solution to design a new series of chartplotter / fishfinder products with increased functionality and flexibility for boating and angling enthusiasts.

Samsung’s S3C6410 application processor will be shown in Navico’s Lowrance HDS marine GPS products at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Samsung’s Meeting Room #N238 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Developed specifically for high-performance, multimedia, graphic-intensive consumer electronics devices, Samsung’s S3C6410 application processor enabled Navico to design-in a powerful combination of a multi-function display, proprietary sounder technology and a fully integrated real-time weather and radar solutions. Leveraging the 3-D graphics accelerator on Samsung’s S3C6410, the Lowrance HDS is also able to offer seamless transitions between 2-D and 3-D modes when viewing the extensive mapping and radar options offered on the new chartplotters that include detailed shorelines and depth contours for over 100,000 bodies of water and almost 5,000 lakes.
