Proskauer Rose Continues Expansion of Global Private Investment Funds Practice
LONDON-(Business Wire)-September 29, 2009 - Proskauer Rose LLP continued the expansion of its global Private Investment Funds Practice with the announcement that Robert Barry, one of the UK’s preeminent fund formation lawyers, will join the firm’s London office as a partner.
Mr. Barry, the former head of Travers Smith’s Investment Funds Group, focuses his practice on fund formation and advising institutional investors on fund investments. He has extensive experience working with a wide range of funds around the world, including private equity, real estate, funds of funds, venture capital and hedge, in their formation, ongoing operations and investments, and has advised on more than 150 fund investments and direct co-investments. Mr. Barry is a graduate of the College of Law, York and University College, London.
The addition of Mr. Barry to Proskauer’s Private Investment Funds Practice, which has been consistently ranked among the world’s best by Chambers, Legal 500 and various other industry publications, follows the recent announcement that Caroline Chabrerie and Christophe Baert, experienced fund formation and private equity transactional lawyers who formerly practiced at SJ Berwin, joined the firm as a partner and senior associate, respectively, in Paris. In addition, Mary Kuusisto, a partner in the firm’s Private Investment Funds Practice with vast experience in fund formation and related tax matters who was previously based in Boston, recently moved to Proskauer’s London office, and senior associate Alisa Chhoa has joined the London practice from Clifford Chance.
According to Allen I. Fagin, Chairman of Proskauer, the addition of Mr. Barry continues the firm’s strategy of expanding its fund formation capabilities to meet the global needs of its clients. This ongoing growth has been evidenced not just in London and Paris, but in the opening of the firm’s Hong Kong office, which has a major focus on private equity, and the continuing expansion of the practice in the United States, specifically in Boston, New York and Los Angeles.
