Schaeffer's Daily Option Blog: Traders Flock to Calls on Applied Materials (AMAT)

CINCINNATI-(Business Wire)-September 29, 2009 - Options trading was brisk on Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT) on Monday, as more than 35,000 contracts crossed the tape, according to data from WhatsTrading.com. This jump in volume was more than three times the equity's average single-session trading volume of 11,398 contracts. In addition, 95% of the volume traded on the call side.

In the October series, the 13-strike call added 2,500 contracts to put its open interest at 19,096 contracts. On the other hand, the October 14 call shed 2,000 positions, lowering its open interest to 31,070 contracts.
