Forest Society of Maine and First Wind Celebrate Establishment of $100,000 Fund to Encourage Outdoor Recreation Opportunities

| WHAT: | The Forest Society of Maine and First Wind will host an event at the Thomas Hill Standpipe in Bangor, Maine to celebrate the establishment of the Stetson Mountain Fund, created to maintain and improve opportunities for recreational access to the Baskahegan Stream watershed, which originates from the slopes of Stetson Mountain. The Forest Society of Maine will discuss the important linkage between recreational access, working forestlands, and local communities like Danforth and Topsfield, and how the grant program will work. First Wind will also discuss the economic and environmental benefits of Stetson Wind, which has the capacity to generate approximately 167 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually – enough to power about 23,500 homes per year. | |
