Hospital Voices of Value™ Summit Announced
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-(Business Wire)-September 29, 2009 - Today, Data Advantage, LLC announced new information about the Voices of Value™ Summit, an extension of the Hospital Value Index™, the first and only national study on U.S. hospital value. The meeting will take place at the Westin Chicago River North on December 8 and 9.
“We have established the Voices of Value™ Summit to celebrate those hospitals performing as models of care and to share best practices with practitioners in all areas of healthcare,” said Hal Andrews, CEO of Data Advantage. “The first event will largely focus on health reform and how hospitals can prepare for forthcoming reimbursement shifts and the initiatives that Best in Value™ hospitals undertook to achieve their performance.”
To date, healthcare legislative reform has largely considered Value-Based Purchasing, a proposal by CMS which will likely base reimbursement on the overall value that hospitals deliver. Specifically, one proposed amendment to Senator Max Baucus’ America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009 calls for such a summit where those hospitals performing at the highest level can share best practices with other healthcare providers.
Data Advantage will host the Voices of Value™ Summit to facilitate the discussion and to discover and disseminate the best methods for delivering high value of care.
“I look forward to participating in the Voices of Value™ Summit and learning from other participants,” said Tim McGill, CEO of Parkway Medical Center in Decatur, Alabama. “‘Value’ is the buzz word in healthcare today, but we are still learning what it really means. The Summit is the first opportunity for healthcare providers and leaders to gain a better understanding of how ‘value’ will play a role in the way we comprehensively evaluate our performance moving forward.”
Attendees will arrive on Monday, December 7 with sessions taking place on Tuesday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 9. The discussions will cover three areas: Quality, Patient Satisfaction, and Affordability & Efficiency. Each session will include expert moderators and panelists from hospitals that the 2009-2010 Hospital Value Index™ recognized as Best in Value™.
On September 15, Data Advantage announced the findings from the 2009-2010 Hospital Value Index™ study, an analysis of the value of care provided at more than 4,500 U.S. hospitals. The study revealed that approximately $60 billion per year could be saved if all hospitals performed at the level of the Best in Value™ hospitals.
