DRAPER, Utah-(Business Wire)-September 29, 2009 - Lingotek, the leader in collaborative translation technology, today announced that longtime localization/translation consultant Willem Stoeller has joined the Lingotek management team as its director of account management. In this role, Stoeller will leverage more than 20 years of experience in translation, localization and internationalization to help companies more quickly and cost- effectively bring products and services into new countries and markets.

“There are few in the localization/translation space as deeply connected and knowledgeable as Willem,” said Robert Vandenberg, CEO, Lingotek. “His expertise and success consulting with hundreds of companies on the translation, localization, and internationalization of their marketing material, software products, and web content will serve as an immeasurable asset to our customers.”

Prior to joining Lingotek, Stoeller worked as a vice president of Welocalize, a translation and localization company he helped evolve from a small two-office company to a global 10-office organization. While there, he managed significant customer accounts such as Adobe, HP and Yahoo, assisting in their global expansion, as well as supervising teams of senior program managers, project managers and localization engineers.

“Over the past few years, I’ve grown increasingly interested in machine translation, as well as how companies can actually leverage communities—crowdsourcing, if you will—to get their myriad documents translated quickly, and more importantly, at a lower cost,” Stoeller said. “Lingotek is one of the very few companies offering this type of technology, and actually the only technology with crowdsourcing features built within the platform. I’m looking forward to helping more companies reap the benefits of this new age of translation.”

Stoeller, based in Sherwood, Ore., is a Certified Project Management Professional and a member of the Project Management Institute. He was an active participant in the Translation Automation User Society (TAUS), as well as a co-founder of the TAUS Data Association. Educated overseas, he has earned his doctorates in computational chemistry and math, Cum Laude, from the University of Amsterdam. He also speaks three languages: English, Dutch and French.

Note: Stoeller will be presenting two pre-conference workshops at the Localization World on October 20 in San Jose, Calif., “Managing Distributed Teams in an Outsourced Environment” and a panel on “Tools and Technologies.” He will also be presenting on “Crowdsourcing for Adobe” at the Translation Automation User Society (TAUS) conference the following week in Portland.
