Online Publishing Luminary Jim Spanfeller Joins FatTail’s Board of Advisors

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 29, 2009 - FatTail Inc., the leader in online ad optimization software, today announced that Jim Spanfeller, a leading visionary in the online publishing industry, has joined its board of advisors. Spanfeller is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Spanfeller Group, an online publishing consulting company. Prior to forming The Spanfeller Group, from 2000 to 2009, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Forbes.com, the world’s leading business site. Spanfeller will provide his industry expertise and knowledge to FatTail’s management team as they accelerate the company’s growth and introduce new innovative products and services.

During his tenure, Spanfeller received numerous industry awards and accolades, including “Top Innovator in Business Publishing” from BtoB Media Business and induction into MIN Magazine’s first-ever Digital Hall of Fame in 2006; “Top Interactive Executive for General Business Publishers” from BtoB Media Business, as part of its “Top Innovators in Business Publishing” awards, and one of its “Top 25 Newsmakers” in 2005; and one of the industry’s standout media executives in MIN Magazine’s annual “21 Most Intriguing People” issue in 2003.

Prior to joining Forbes, Spanfeller was President of the Consumer Magazine Group, at Ziff Davis Media, Inc., where he was responsible for PC Magazine, Yahoo! Internet Life, Smart Business, Family PC and Expedia Travels; managed Ziff Davis Corporate Sales and Custom Publishing; and served on the company’s Board of Directors. Before Ziff Davis Media, Spanfeller was Publisher of Inc. Magazine, Senior Vice President, Marketing/Associate Publisher of Playboy Enterprises Publishing Group, and held senior sales positions at Newsweek.

Spanfeller serves on the Board of Directors of Ziff Davis Enterprises and Freedom Communications. He is actively involved in the Online Publishers Association (OPA), and has served as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board for the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), and as Board Member of the Magazine Publishers Association.
