AUSTIN, Texas-(Business Wire)-September 29, 2009 - A month into college football and surprise upsets shake up the top 25 hottest games for the season. Games that had been leading TicketCity’s top 25 list all season faltered and others unsuspectingly jumped up. Leading teams such as Florida, Texas, Alabama and LSU dominate the list while other such as Vanderbilt and Clemson climb onto the list. Ultimately, fans reacting to the losses are now driving demand up for teams that were not considered in preseason polls.

For the first time since the season began, the Florida at LSU game relinquishes the top spot to the heated rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma. With four teams that were ranked between Texas and Oklahoma suffering losses over the weekend, the results not only shifted ranking but also ticket prices. “Demand for the Red River Shootout has always been strong, but following this past weekend we’ve experienced a surge in sales for the matchup,” comments Rafael Rivas, VP of Sales for TicketCity. “Fans aren’t discounting Oklahoma following their back-to-back shutouts and Sam Bradford’s close return. While Texas is making a strong run for the BCS Championship, a victory against Oklahoma is crucial and fans know it.”

The most significant drop in the list was the Arkansas vs Texas A&M game. Ranked 3rd for four consecutive weeks, the game plunged to the bottom of the list coming in at 25th. Though the average price of a ticket is $200, the cost is $240 cheaper across the secondary market than last week. “The resurrection of the rivalry is cooling following Arkansas’ losses,” states Rivas. “Though Razorback fans will travel for their team, fan demand for the game suffered after their loss to Alabama. The big draw for the game remains the New Cowboys Stadium and A&M fans willing to support their so far successful team.”

The Arkansas vs Texas A&M game is one of three occurring this weekend that made the top 25 list. Paul Bunyan’s Axe, or the Wisconsin at Minnesota game, climbed up two spots on the list though the average price is consistent with last week at $332 per ticket. LSU at Georgia also moved up two spots with many fans looking forward to the game. Both teams are undefeated in their conference though Georgia has one loss overall. “As a SEC inner conference matchup, demand for the game remains strong though prices have leveled out the last few weeks hovering around $270 per ticket. It will be interesting to see how the results of this upcoming weekend will affect next week’s fan demand.”

TicketCity releases this week's list of the top 25 hottest games of the 2009 regular college football season based on average ticket price. The list was accumulated by compiling a majority of the available tickets on the secondary market throughout the entire country. The secondary market is comprised of over 800 established ticket brokers, and fans who are listing extra tickets to sell.
