WESTLAKE, Ohio-(Business Wire)-September 28, 2009 - TravelCenters of America LLC announced that one of its technicians qualified as a “SuperTech” Champion in the Trucking Maintenance Council’s (TMC) annual National Technician’s Skill Competition held in Raleigh, North Carolina earlier this month. That technician, Norbert “Butch” Estrada, of Lake Station, Indiana, qualified under the category of starting and charging. The TMC SuperTech competition draws technicians nationwide from Fleets, OEM dealers, and independent truck maintenance service providers. Eighty-two technicians competed in this year’s event. The TMC is one of five professional advisory councils of the American Trucking Association.

This is the third consecutive year that the company has qualified at least one of its technicians as a “SuperTech” Champion. In all, twelve ASE Master technicians from the company’s TA and Petro:Lube truck service centers competed in various skill challenges. Three of those technicians placed in the top 30 in the overall rankings. TA and Petro were the ONLY travel center brands represented in this competition, reflecting on the significant investment in technical training the company makes to provide its customers with top maintenance and light repair work.

In addition to this important competition, TA and Petro:Lube technicians are further distinguished by the over 1500 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications they have qualified for as a combined repair network.

Together, these brands have over 230 locations, nearly 1,000 repair bays and 14,000 technicians nationwide. In addition, it has over 400 service vehicles through its RoadSquad roadside assistance program. TA, Petro:Lube and RoadSquad services are available 24/7, 365 days a year.
