SDR Forum Announces 2nd Annual European Reconfigurable Radio Technologies Workshop and Exposition Call for Presentations
WASHINGTON, D.C.-(Business Wire)-September 28, 2009 - The SDR Forum (http://www.sdrforum.org), a non-profit international industry association dedicated to promoting the success of next generation radio technology, has announced today it is accepting presentation proposals for its 2nd annual European Reconfigurable Radio Technologies Workshop and Product Exposition, to be held in Mainz, Germany, 23-25 June, 2010 (http://sdrforum.org/2010EuropeWorkshop/).
Last year’s event, held in Madrid, Spain, brought together wireless telecommunications equipment manufacturers (TEMs) with their customers and suppliers to explore the evolution of reconfigurable radio over the next several years.
“This conference brings together a variety of stakeholders, from SDR’s historical constituencies such as the defense and civil communications markets, to new commercial markets including network infrastructure, mobile handsets, and more,” says program chair Thierry Dubois of IMEC. “Such a diverse audience creates a unique opportunity to learn from each other, discuss different points of view and ultimately join together to bring SDR and CR into the mainstream. If you are in an industry where SDR is just emerging, you should be at this conference, not only to discover the coming opportunities but also to collaborate with those already immersed in this exciting technology.”
This second annual workshop will expand to include two tracks – one focused on SDR technologies and the other focused on Cognitive Radio and Dynamic Spectrum Access technologies. The SDR Forum invites presentation proposals for either of these tracks on topic areas that include:

- Baseband Signal Processing Technology and Devices

- Software Communications Architecture (SCA)
- Firmware and other IP

- Standards for Reconfigurable Radio and Supporting Components

- Regulatory Considerations and Spectrum Policy
- Cognitive Radio Technologies, including:

- Policy Ontology and Language
- Sensing and Awareness
- Spectrum Etiquettes
- Coexistence
- Spectrum and Resource Management
- White Space
- SDR and CR Market Applications and Business Models
- Commercial Wireless
- Defense
- Public Safety
- Satellite Communications
- Automotive
- Emerging Markets
- Education in SDR and CR
Presentations will be 30 minutes in duration, including questions. Although this is a presentation only workshop, papers supporting the presentation are strongly encouraged. A workshop CD acting as the conference proceedings will be supplied to attendees containing all workshop presentations and associated papers.
Proposals for presentations from national research and development programs across Europe are especially welcome. Program presentations could be as single overview presentations or complete sessions with a program overview followed by 2 or 3 technical presentations.
