CHICO, Calif.-(Business Wire)-September 28, 2009 - Tickets are now on sale for the 2009 Sierra Oro Farm Trail Passport Weekend, October 10-11, 2009. Passports for this “grand weekend of wine tasting and farm fresh food sampling” are now available for purchase online at www.sierraoro.org and at the Chico, Oroville and Paradise Chambers of Commerce. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 online or during the Passport Weekend. All farms and wineries will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days.
This year, four new members have joined the festivities including Mooney Farms and CSU University Farm in Chico, California and Morse Farms and Lake Oroville Bed & Breakfast in Oroville. The popular annual tour of Butte County agriculture offers something for everyone from the food and wine connoisseur to a family outing. The tour is designed for day-trippers and visitors to the area who are interested in seeing the action behind some of the premiere specialty farms in Northern California.
“The Sierra Oro Farm Trail Passport Weekend is unique because all of the farms and wineries on the Sierra Oro Farm Trail map will open their doors on the same weekend,” said Heather Quilici, who co-founded the map with Jamie Johansson of Lodestar Farms. “Additionally, everyone will have something special taking place at their farm. Many of our members will be harvesting, it will be a great time to see the farmers in action.”
In addition to a hard copy of the map, visitors can plan their own tour by visiting www.sierraoro.org. The website includes additional details about each farm and the ability to plan your own interactive tour through Google Maps. Visitors who would like to pre-plan their tour can map a route from farm to farm directly from www.sierraoro.org without using a hard copy of the map.
