StubHub Partners with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Upcoming Benefit Concerts
SAN FRANCISCO-(Business Wire)-September 28, 2009 - StubHub, the world’s largest ticket marketplace, announced today a partnership tied to two highly anticipated benefit concerts next month at Madison Square Garden. In celebration of their 25th anniversary, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will host groundbreaking shows on October 29th and 30th, featuring U2; Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band; Simon & Garfunkel; Metallica, Paul Simon; Aretha Franklin; Stevie Wonder; Crosby, Stills Nash & Friends; Eric Clapton and more. All StubHub profits from ticket sales for these concerts will directly benefit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, a nonprofit organization and world-class museum that collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets this art form through its library, archives, and educational programs.
“We are excited to partner with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of a continued commitment to provide live-event fans with availability and choice, while also aligning with the concerts’ original charitable intent,” said StubHub president Chris Tsakalakis. “This two-day extravaganza featuring an all-star lineup will help build awareness and further their cause.”
“We truly appreciate and give our sincere thanks to StubHub for their generous pledge to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation,” said Joel Peresman, president & CEO of the Foundation. “They have taken the initiative to increase the donations to this event to help establish a permanent endowment for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.”
Earlier this month, StubHub teamed up with the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund (www.answerthecall.org) in connection to Jay-Z’s 9/11 benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. As a result of this partnership, the artist’s chosen charity will receive over $90,000 in additional donations.
“We thank StubHub for their generosity and commitment to our cause; the contributions will provide additional support to the many families still in need,” said Linda Giammona, Director of Development of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.
