HealthPort’s April Robertson Named AHIMA’s 2009 Legacy Award Recipient
ALPHARETTA, Ga.-(Business Wire)-September 28, 2009 - HealthPort, a top-25 company in the healthcare information technology industry, today announced that April Robertson, HealthPort, Vice President of Customer Advocacy will be honored by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as the 2009 Legacy Award Recipient on October 5, 2009, during the general session of AHIMA’s annual convention at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.
Robertson was selected to receive this honor and professional distinction as part of AHIMA’s annual Triumph Awards, which recognizes special individuals who’ve made a significant difference in the health information management (HIM) profession. The Legacy Award recommendations are peer driven and allow others within the industry to highlight the admirable work and dedication of their colleagues. Robertson has made many notable contributions to the HIM profession including her advocacy as a global leader for the healthcare industry, demonstrated by her involvement as the co-chair of the Ambassador Committee for the AHIMA-IFHRO Congress held in Washington, D.C. in 2004. Most recently, Robertson served three-years on AHIMA’s Board of Director’s and is past president of the California Health Information Association (CHIA).

Robertson holds RHIA, RHIT and CHPS credentials, is a Fellow of AHIMA, and frequently serves as an industry spokesperson travelling the country promoting HIM through presentations, advocacy for privacy, confidentiality, and medical identity theft.
